A series of murderous home invasions in the sleepy town of Dead River, Maine alarms the former sheriff.  The events are eerily similar to a bloody battle he'd fought and won with a wild and savage clan a decade ago.  By hiding out in a forests and caves, the clan has managed to elude capture and survive.  When the clan leader discovers a secluded home, she orders her followers to abduct the residents to assure the clan's survival.  But the kidnapped women have survival instincts of their own.  And the former sheriff has a score to settle, even if it kills him.

Hey may have dropped the "cougar," but Mellencamp can still produce a ferocious rock album that is both tough and angry.  Life Death LIVE and Freedom is a collection of live performances of key songs from the 2008 release Life Death Love and Freedom.  No overdubs or studio enhancements were added.  Mellencamp's gritty vocals and great band shine through.

Know why we like the Black Crowes?  Because their frontman looks like a foot and he still managed to wed and bed Kate Hudson.  Incredible.  Gives hope to all us radio guys.  And he's a decent musician ... that's just a bonus ... what he should really be known for is breaking the "nerd never gets the girl" rule.
